Rachel - Kagoshima:
Visiting a new country always
gives me an immense adrenaline
rush; but when I landed at
Tokyo airport, I experienced a
feeling that Id never had before.
Let me try to describe it:
mix an ounce of fear with half
a cup of excitement and a litre
of awe. My immediate first
impression of Japan was ‘wow’!
That old cliché is definitely
true seeing is believing and
although I read a few books on
Japan, flicked through a few
travel brochures and wore out
google search engines, nothing
quite managed to capture the
true essence of Japan.
George - Harajuku:
Following a 6 hours flight to the north from Papua New Guinea, I found myself locked up in the
basement of the JUC (Japan Union Conference) office for almost 14 hours. That 14 hour session, as I was told, was an
“orientation.” But soon it occurred to me that it was more than an orientation. It was an “initiation.”
Brad - Hiroshima:
Wow! I like it! I'm talking
about Japan, that is. I really
appreciate the feel of the place.
Confirming my expectation,
the people here are very nice...
peaceful, kind and accommodating.
I've made some great
friends already!
Brooke - Yokohama:
When I think of first impressions,
I think of experiencing
different aspects of life for the
first time. Coming to Japan to
be a missionary has definitely
caused me to have many new
experiences, all of which I have
truly enjoyed.
